The Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids is a well established international medium for publication of research in condensed matter and materials science. Emphasis is placed on experimental and theoretical work which contributes to a basic understanding of and new insight into the properties and behavior of condensed matter. General areas of interest are the electronic, spectroscopic and structural properties of solids, the statistical mechanics and thermodynamics of condensed systems, including perfect and defect lattices, surfaces, interfaces, thin films and multilayers, amorphous materials and nanostructures, and layered and low dimensional structures.Typical examples include the preparation and structural characterization of novel and advanced materials, especially in relation to the measurement and interpretation of their electrical, magnetic, optical, thermal and mechanical properties, phase transitions, electronic structure and defect properties, and the application of appropriate experimental and theoretical techniques in these studies. Articles are encouraged in all the above areas, but especially those which emphasize fundamental aspects of materials science. From time-to-time, Special Issues of the journal containing invited articles devoted to topical or rapidly developing fields are published.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Founded in 1909, with roots tracing back to 1818, the Journal of Plant Physiology(JPP) published landmark papers in plant physiology and is one of the world's oldest international journals in the botanical sciences.Today's modern concept of JPP welcomes submissions in biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology and functional biotechnology of plants. While a "new" or "agriculturally important" species alone is not an acceptable rationale for this journal, submission of papers exploring the diversity of species beyond current models, such as Arabidopsis, and bridging basic research with applied aspects is encouraged. Experiments should be carried out under controlled environmental conditions.Descriptive manuscripts, confirming known facts in just another species without contributing to a better understanding of the biological mechanisms involved, will normally be returned without review.

The Journal is published by the Society for Policy Modeling as a forum for analysis and debate on policy issues. The Journal focuses upon the economic, social and political developments that now shape the world economy and the policies needed to improve them. The Journal emphasizes formal modeling techniques serving the purposes of decision making. Such a focus requires, in the first place, the highest academic standards, adherence to the state-of-the-art in the field, and the ability to critique prevailing conceptual methods. The proposed analytical instruments must be empirically validated on the basis of replicable data, and take into account the interdependence of economic trends over-time, countries and sectors.A second, key element in the evaluation of a submitted article is whether the proposed model can be of use for policy purposes and what policy-makers can learn from it. Editors discourage submission of papers exclusively focused on techniques, without answering the question: "what can public policy make out of the conclusions reached by the proposed model?" Historical and thematic reviews of modeling are welcomed. The Journal of Policy Modeling is published bimonthly by Elsevier Inc. It is supported by a special purpose, on-line depository of scientific papers, EconModels.com. By fostering an interactive exchange views about fully refereed papers, EconModels.com helps authors to adapt to digital life, gain broad recognition, generate debate, and share information with peers hard to reach otherwise. A Board decision whether to publish a given paper in the Journal of Policy Modeling or in EconModel.com reflects mostly logistical considerations (length, space, relevance, timing, queue). The scientific merits of research must be outstanding in either case.

Since 1977, the Journal of Pragmatics has addressed a number of questions that are essential to our understanding of how language works in communicative and social interaction, and continues to welcome innovative pragmatic scholarship from all perspectives. Through engagement with a wide scope of research in pragmatics, JoP provides a forum for studies that approach relevant issues in general linguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, conversation analysis, cognitive linguistics, corpus linguistics, and other areas of linguistic research with a distinctly pragmatic agenda. The Journal of Pragmatics also encourages work that explores the relationship between linguistic pragmatics and neighboring disciplines such as communication science (including the study of nonverbal communication), developmental and experimental psychology, the philosophy of language, and speech-language pathology (including the study of all developmental and acquired communication disorders). JoP welcomes both contributions originating in linguistics, and those taking neighboring, related fields as their point of departure. We also welcome the opportunity to publish high quality special issues, enabling the journal to make a significant contribution to a topical or developing area.
