The aims of this peer-reviewed online journal are to distribute and archive all relevant material required to document, assess, validate and reconstruct in detail the body of knowledge in the physical and related sciences. The scope of EPJ Plus encompasses a broad landscape of fields and disciplines in the physical and related sciences - such as covered by the topical EPJ journals and with the explicit addition of geophysics, astrophysics, general relativity and cosmology, mathematical and quantum physics, classical and fluid mechanics, as well as physics techniques applied to any other topics, including energy, environment and cultural heritage. The journal will be a new forum for: 1. the setting and improvement of standards, procedures and performance in: - experimental and observational physics: techniques and instruments, including laboratory protocols and similar best practice studies in scientific data acquisition, analysis, transmission and processing: - computational physics: numerical techniques and simulations, including technical performance studies and similar benchmark calculations: - theoretical physics: development and refinement of relevant mathematical toolsand techniques: 2. the progress, verification and documentation of research through: - important and substantial additional details and insights on existing work: - original research, by theoretical, experimental or numerical means, on specific or technical issues, in particular critical assessment of existing work: - relevant and independent theoretical, computational or experimental supportand validation of previously published results. To facilitate such aims and scope: - papers will be refereed regarding the quality and thoroughness of presentation as well as the clarity and soundness of details and arguments. - the journal explicitly encourages the submission of additional mate, rial that can be published as electronic supplementary material to accepted articles. European Political Science (EPS) is an international journal devoted to publishing contributions by and for the political science community. Its interpretation of 'political science' is wide and encompasses comparative politics, political economy, international relations, public administration, political theory, European studies and related disciplines. It publishes pieces on how the discipline is, can be and ought to be. Articles address research matters (including debates in the discipline, research projects, political science information sources, funding opportunities); professional matters (such as career structures and prospects, external evaluation, higher education reforms, accreditation issues); doctoral training provision and teaching matters; and relations between academia and politicians, policy-makers, journalists and ordinary citizens. EPS also includes more substantive pieces that provide a political science perspective on important current events. In addition to original articles, the journal carries shorter notes, review articles and symposia, progress reports on lively areas of research and profiles of people in the profession.

European Radiology (ER) continuously updates scientific knowledge in radiology by publication of strong original articles and state-of-the-art reviews written by leading radiologists. A well balanced combination of review articles, original papers, short communications from European radiological congresses and information on society matters makes ER an indispensable source for current information in this field. This is the Journal of the European Society of Radiology, and the official organ of a number of societies. From 2004-2008 supplements to European Radiology were published under its companion, European Radiology Supplements, ISSN 1613-3749.

'European Spine Journal' is a publication founded in response to the increasing trend toward specialization in spinal surgery. The Journal is devoted to spine surgery and all related disciplines, including functional and surgical anatomy of the spine, biomechanics and pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and neurology. The European Transport Research Review – An Open Access Journal (ETRR) is an online scientific platform aiming at disseminating research results in the field of transport. The main scope and mission of the Journal is to provide a forum for the publication of high quality scientific papers in the field of transport in general, and a dissemination medium for new ideas and developments that originate in, or are of interest to, the European transport research community. The Journal was established by the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI).

Journal’s concept and primary characteristics are: first, it is the open access configuration that makes it easily and widely available through the internet to all readers with a minimum of constraints and costs: second, it provides focus on issues of special interest to European transport research, its funding bodies and supervising organisations: third, it is clearly oriented towards both researchers and practitioners.The Journal considers primarily papers, on both theoretical as well as applied research, whose excellence and content represent an important contribution to transport research in Europe. Papers dealing with theoretical or applied research outside Europe are also encouraged to be submitted for publication, as long as their results are of relevance to European transport concerns, or can contribute to scientific knowledge or best practice transfer between researchers in Europe and their counterparts in other continents.Contributors are advised to submit papers that fit at least in one of the areas of interest identified by the Journal. However, the Editorial Board can also consider papers that are not directly related to these areas but are considered of interest or of particular concern to the aims and goals of the Journal. Papers published in the Journal are subjected to peer-review in accordance with standard international practices for scholarly journals., In addition, the Journal will also periodically publish information papers, as well as book and conference reviews regarding transport policy and research in Europe.

EvoDevo publishes articles on a broad range of topics associated with the translation of genotype to phenotype in a phylogenetic context. Evolution: Education and Outreach addresses the question of why we should care about evolution by exploring the practical applications of evolutionary principles in daily life and the impact of evolutionary theory on culture and society throughout history. Targeting K-16 students, teachers and scientists alike, the journal presents articles to aid members of these communities in the teaching of evolutionary theory. It connects teachers with scientists by adapting cutting-edge, peer reviewed articles for classroom use on varied instructional levels. Now in an exciting new journal format, Evolutionary Biology is dedicated to the view that evolutionary theory is a unifying framework for the biosciences. The journal is a forum in which critical reviews, original research, commentaries, and controversial views are brought together to contribute to greater understanding of the origins and diversity of life. This vision reflects the original intent of the serial publication Evolutionary Biology, first published in 1967 as a forum in which some of the most important papers in Evolutionary Biology appeared. The topics varied greatly and many of the papers were synthetic in nature. New Focus for our Journal The relationship between Ecology and Evolution is both intimate and fundamental, yet the field of Evolutionary Ecology is not a strong or obvious focus of research activity. Habitats and climate have been changing at various temporal and spatial scales since the origin of life. Although this variation can have a profound effect on both ecological and evolutionary processes, the interplay between ecology and evolution remains comparatively neglected. Most researchers in evolution are more concerned with the pattern of evolution (phylogeny) and its genetic and developmental correlates than with the ecological causes of evolution. Similarly, ecologists often ignore the evolutionary implications of population and community processes, at least partially because it is difficult enough working out ecological processes when one assumes (implicitly) that all individuals are identical over short time scales. Evolutionary Intelligence is an international journal devoted to the publication and dissemination of theoretical and practical aspects of the use of population-based search for artificial intelligence. Techniques of interest include evolving rule-based systems, evolving artificial neural networks, evolving fuzzy systems, evolving Bayesian and statistical approaches, artificial immune systems, and hybrid systems which combine evolutionary computation with other A.I. techniques in general. The journal contains research papers, review articles, short notes and letters to the editor. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, memory, vision, planning, knowledge representation and construction, robotics, neuroscience, language, development and learning, and all aspects of cognitive science. 'Evolving Systems' covers surveys, methodological, and application-oriented papers in the emerging area of evolving systems. Evolving systems are inspired by the idea of system model evolution in a dynamically changing and evolving environment. They use inheritance and gradual change with the aim of life-long learning and adaptation, self-organization including system structure evolution in order to adapt to the (unknown and unpredictable) environment as structures for information representation with the ability to fully adapt their structure and adjust their parameters. 'Evolving Systems' solicits publications that address the problems of modelling, control, prediction, classification and data processing in non-stationary, unpredictable environments and describe new methods and approaches for design of systems able to fully adapt its structure rather than adjust its parameters based on a pre-trained and fixed structure. The journal is devoted to the topic of self-developing, self-organised, and evolving systems in its entirety - from systematic methods to case studies and real industrial applications. It covers all aspects of the methodology such as conventional systems, neuro-fuzzy systems, evolutionary systems, Bayesian systems, machine learning methods, clustering, and classification, but also looking at new paradigms and applications, including medicine, robotics, business, industrial automation, control systems, transportation, communications, environmental monitoring, biomedical systems, security, and electronic services. The common features for all submitted methods and systems are evolvability and knowledge discovery. EXPERIMENTAL and MOLECULAR MEDICINE, EMM, publishes research papers and a limited number of reviews in the fields of basic and applied molecular biology, and experimental biochemistry in medicine. Research areas include analysis of gene structure, function and regulation; molecular mechanisms of genetic recombination; recombinant nucleic acid technology and gene therapy. EMM is also dedicated to the experimental biochemistry in medicine, including the regulatory mechanisms of body functions; structural biology and interaction between proteins and/or nucleic acids. Although special research areas are emphasized for publication, articles dealing with molecular biology and experimental biochemistry in other areas will also be welcomed.
