MethodsX puts the technical aspects of your work into the spotlight. Publish essential details of the tweaks you have made to a method, without spending time on writing up a traditional article, with detailed background and contextual information. Your MethodsX article showcases the work you've done to customize a method. It's that simple.

A MethodsX article features:

• an abstract to outline the customization
• a graphical abstract visual to illustrate what you've done
• the method(s) in sufficient detail to help people replicate it, including any relevant figures, tables etc
• up to 25 references to the original description of the method you're using

While keeping focused on the technical aspect of the work, evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols needs to be provided. This should be immediately evident to the reader.

Before submitting, please make sure your manuscript complies with the following criteria:

1. The article is written in standard English and clearly understandable
2. The manuscript adheres to the MethodsX format, see the http://www.elsevier.com/journals/methodsx/2215-0161/guide-for-authorsauthor guidelines
3. Control data supporting the claims made are included: evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols is provided
4. The method should describe a change over established practices

Pflügers Archiv European Journal of Physiology publishes the results of original research considered likely to further the physiological sciences in their broadest sense. Topics include pathophysiological or methodological issues when these can be used as a tool for further investigation of physiological mechanisms. Papers should give mechanistic insights into physiological functions at the molecular and cellular level. Priority will be given to manuscripts that provide conceptual novelty. Pflügers specifically aims at publishing work on ion channels, transporters, cardiac electrophysiology, and sensory physiology on a molecular and cellular level. The journal welcomes papers linking genomic and proteomic approaches to physiological functions, as well as articles describing work on the mechanistic phenotyping of transgenic animal models.

Pharmaceutical Biology will publish manuscripts describing the discovery, methods for discovery, description, analysis characterization, and production/isolation (including sources and surveys) of biologically-active chemicals or other substances, drugs, pharmaceutical products, or preparations utilized in systems of traditional medicine.Topics may generally encompass any facet of natural product research related to pharmaceutical biology. Pharmacology Biochemistry & Behavior publishes original reports in the areas of pharmacology and biochemistry in which the primary emphasis and theoretical context are behavioral. Contributions may involve clinical, preclinical, or basic research. Purely behavioral studies and toxicology studies will not be published unless they have directly demonstrable relevance to the areas of pharmacology or biochemistry. The objective of the journal is to provide practical information of immediate relevance to workers in clinical laboratories. The primary scope of the journal covers clinical chemistry, hematology, molecular biology and genetics relevant to laboratory medicine, microbiology, immunology, therapeutic drug monitoring and toxicology, laboratory management and informatics.

We welcome papers which describe critical evaluations of biomarkers and their role in the diagnosis and treatment of clinically significant disease, validation of commercial and in-house IVD methods, method comparisons, interference reports, the development of new reagents and reference materials, reference range studies and regulatory compliance reports. Manuscripts describing the development of new methods applicable to laboratory medicine (including point-of-care testing) are particularly encouraged, even if preliminary or small scale.

While novel or innovative work is preferred, papers of a confirmatory nature will also be considered if they are scientifically and technically valid and relevant to important topics.

The role of lipids, including essential fatty acids and their prostaglandin, leukotriene and other derivatives, is now evident in almost all areas of biomedical science. Cell membrane behaviour and cell signalling in all tissues are highly dependent on the lipid constituents of cells.
