Aquacultural Engineering

ISSN: 0144-8609

Official journal of the Aquacultural Engineering Society (AES)Aquacultural Engineering is concerned with the design and development of effective aquacultural systems for marine and freshwater facilities. The journal aims to apply the knowledge gained from basic research which potentially can be translated into commercial operations.Problems of scale-up and application of research data involve many parameters, both physical and biological, making it difficult to anticipate the interaction between the unit processes and the cultured animals. Aquacultural Engineering aims to develop this bioengineering interface for aquaculture and welcomes contributions in the following areas:– Engineering and design of aquaculture facilities– Engineering-based research studies– Construction experience and techniques– In-service experience, commissioning, operation– Materials selection and their uses– Quantification of biological data and constraintsStyle of presentation is flexible, but those papers dealing with specific problems should attempt to define them clearly in terms of systems engineering, quantifying the constraints, proposing solutions, implementing and detailing the design, and finally evaluating the outcome.

Aquatic Procedia

ISSN: 2214-241X
What is Aquatic Procedia?
Aquatic Procedia is an open access product focusing entirely on publishing conference proceedings, enabling fast dissemination so that conference delegates can publish their papers in a dedicated online issue on ScienceDirect.

Aquatic Procedia will publish papers from conferences and relevant research programs with an emphasis in the most relevant disciplines within aquatic sciences, such as water resources research and management, oceanography, marine and freshwater ecology and biological resources. Conferences should be relevant to an international audience, with a focused theme and cover timely topics. Copyright information
For authors publishing in Aquatic Procedia, accepted manuscript will be governed by CC BY-NC-ND. For further details see our copyright information.

How are conferences and research programs evaluated for inclusion in Aquatic Procedia?
Conference and research proceedings are accepted for publication in Aquatic Procedia based on suitability of scope and are required to meet certain criteria, including the assurance that all papers are original, will be subject to peer review and will not be published elsewhere. Elsevier will evaluate all proposals on the basis of key information related to the conference provided by the organizers, for example, the conference website, programme, supporting organization and contact details of the committee and keynote speakers. Elsevier may make contact with members of the committee and keynote speakers to obtain further information about the conference during the evaluation process.

What is the process for submitting conference proceedings to Aquatic Procedia?
Proposals should be prepared using the template http://cdn.elsevier.com/promis_misc/aqpro-proposal-template.dochere and sent to:

Christiane Barranguet
Executive Publisher
ProcediaPCC@elsevier.com

What does Aquatic Procedia offer authors and conferences organizers?
Aquatic Procedia offers a single, highly recognized platform where conference papers can be hosted and accessed by millions of researchers. Authors then know where to go to keep abreast of the latest developments in their field. All proceedings appear online, on ScienceDirect, within 6 weeks of acceptance of the final manuscripts via the conference organizer and are freely available to all users. Aquatic Procedia offers authors and conference organizers a fast and cost effective way to provide maximum exposure for their papers.

Templates (both LaTeX and Word) are provided to assist in the publication and the final online papers contain linked references, XML versions and DOI numbers.

Why should conference organizers choose Aquatic Procedia?
There is no limit to the amount of papers a Aquatic Procedia issue can contain and pricing is affordable, clear and transparent. Aquatic Procedia offers immediate access for all, with papers online within 6 weeks of acceptance, and open access providing maximum exposure for individual papers and the related conference. Organizers are being credited on the actual issue and are fully responsible for quality control, the review process and the content of individual conference papers.

What are the costs associated with Aquatic Procedia?
There is an agreed fee, based on the size of the proceedings, which includes online publication on ScienceDirect and free access after acceptance. In addition to the online version there is the possibility to purchase paper copies, CD-ROMs and USB sticks. Moreover, interactive media possibilities such as webcasts and web seminars can be acquired for extra exposure both before and after the conference.

Can Aquatic Procedia be sponsored?
We are open to discussing sponsoring possibilities at all times. Sponsors can include funding bodies, government agencies and/or industry. Benefits to sponsors include visibility amongst a scientific audience and the opportunity to communicate messages via a peer-reviewed platform. Benefits to authors and conference organizers are extra exposure of the conference and reduced costs to the overall conference budget.

Aquatic Toxicology

ISSN: 0166-445XeISSN: 1879-1514

Aquatic Toxicology publishes original scientific papers dealing with the mechanisms of toxicity and the responses to toxic agents in aquatic environments at the community, species, tissue, cellular, subcellular and molecular levels, including aspects of uptake, metabolism and excretion of toxicants. The aim of the journal is to increase our understanding of the impact of toxicants on aquatic organisms and ecosystems. Studies with aquatic model systems that provide fundamental mechanistic insight to toxic effects on organisms in general are also welcome. Both laboratory and field studies will be considered. The mechanistic focus includes genetic disturbances and adaptations to environmental perturbations, including the evolution of toxicant responses; biochemical, physiological and behavioural responses of organisms to toxicants; interactions of genetic and functional responses, and interactions between natural and toxicant-induced environmental changes. The bioaccumulation of contaminants is considered when studies address mechanisms influencing accumulation. Ecological investigations that address reasons, possibly also considering their genetic and physiological aspects, for toxicant-induced alterations of aquatic communities or populations are suitable.Reports on technique development or monitoring efforts are generally not within the scope of Aquatic Toxicology, except those concerning new methodologies for mechanistic research with an example of their application. Identification of toxicants or toxicologically relevant molecules in organisms will be considered only if the identification is a part of a more comprehensive mechanistic study. Whenever possible, information of exposure should be based on measured concentrations and not nominal or assumed ones. Manuscripts reporting acute toxicity data (lethal concentration, LC-50 or lethal dose, LD-50) as a major finding are usually not considered.

Archaeological Research in Asia

ISSN: 2352-2267eISSN: 2352-2275

Archaeological Research in Asia presents high quality scholarly research conducted in between the Bosporus and the Pacific on a broad range of archaeological subjects of importance to audiences across Asia and around the world. The journal covers the traditional components of archaeology: placing events and patterns in time and space; analysis of past lifeways; and explanations for cultural processes and change. To this end, the publication will highlight theoretical and methodological advances in studying the past, present new data, and detail patterns that reshape our understanding of it. Archaeological Research in Asia publishes work on the full temporal range of archaeological inquiry from the earliest human presence in Asia with a special emphasis on time periods under-represented in other venues. Journal contributions are of three kinds: articles, case reports and short communications. Full length articles should present synthetic treatments, novel analyses, or theoretical approaches to unresolved issues. Case reports present basic data on subjects that are of broad interest because they represent key sites, sequences, and subjects that figure prominently, or should figure prominently, in how scholars both inside and outside Asia understand the archaeology of cultural and biological change through time. Short communications present new findings (e.g., radiocarbon dates) that are important to the extent that they reaffirm or change the way scholars in Asia and around the world think about Asian cultural or biological history.
