The Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society aims to promote dialogue between Prosthodontists all over the country and to nurture a scientific temper in both academicians and practitioners alike. This quarterly journal serves as a platform for the exchange of interesting case reports, scientific studies, literature reviews and valuable tips for the common benefit of the prosthodontic community. The journal also aims too bring evidence-based dentistry to the forefront and highlight its importance.

MEDICAL IMPLANTS are being used in every organ of the human body. Ideally, medical implants must have biomechanical properties comparable to those of autogenous tissues without any adverse effects. In each anatomic site, studies of the long-term effects of medical implants must be undertaken to determine accurately the safety and performance of the implants. Today, implant surgery has become an interdisciplinary undertaking involving a number of skilled and gifted specialists. For example, successful cochlear implants will involve audiologists, audiological physicians, speech and language therapists, otolaryngologists, nurses, neuro-otologists, teachers of the deaf, hearing therapists, cochlear implant manufacturers, and others involved with hearing-impaired and deaf individuals. A similar list of specialists can be identified for each implant site, from dentistry to cardiovascular surgery. Consequently, scholarly work from all disciplines involved in implants is welcome. Realizing the interdisciplinary components of successful implant programs, we have considerably expanded the number of members of the Editorial Board. These gifted scholars are recognized as leaders in the field of implants. Each member has been listed with careful identification of academic title, institution, and mailing addresses. Because the ultimate success of implants depends on daily interactive communication, the email addresses of each Editorial Board member has been listed. During the next year, we will announce the names of 35 distinguished scholars from across the world who will be joining our Editorial Board. This new scholarly team will provide conceptual scientific information on implants that will further strengthen the exciting scientific information in this journal. The ability to predict the long-term in vivo performance of medical implants is of vital interest. The extrapolation of in vitro data to the in vivo environment remains largely unproven. Among the major challenges are our limited ability to simulate the complexities of the biological milieu; the current lack of reliable computer modeling of in vivo performance characteristics of implants; and difficulties in evaluating the synergistic contributions of materials, design features, and therapeutic drug regimens. The aims of the Journal of Long-Term Effects of Medical Implants are a better understanding of the mechanisms of failure of preclinically tested medical implants during long-term in vivo service life, both in appropriate animal models and in humans; and establishing an effective linkage between preclinical and clinical studies. Of particular interest are original, critical analyses of data of retrieved implants, interpretive discussions of data based on invasive and noninvasive procedures, and computer modeling of in vivo performance. Also of interest are articles on healthcare technology assessment involving implants and their social impact and economic consequences. The journal will also publish guest editorials, letters to the Editor, and book reviews. All articles are subject to peer review by at least two referees.

The Journal of Oral Biosciences is the official journal of the Japanese Association for Oral Biology, and is published quarterly in addition to a supplementary issue for the Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Oral Biology. The Journal is devoted to the advancement and dissemination of fundamental knowledge concerning every aspect of oral biosciences including cariology research, craniofacial biology, dental materials, implant biology, geriatric oral biology, microbiology/immunology and infection control, mineralized tissue, neuroscience, oral oncology, periodontal research, pharmacology, pulp biology, salivary research, and other fields.

The official publication of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and of the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics, is dedicated to providing valuable information to general dentists, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, periodontists, scientists, clinicians, laboratory owners and technicians, manufacturers, and educators. Implant basics, prosthetics, pharmaceuticals, the latest research in implantology, implant surgery, and advanced implant procedures are just some of the topics covered.

The aim of the Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine is to publish manuscripts of high scientific quality representing original clinical, diagnostic or experimental work in oral pathology and oral medicine. Papers advancing the science or practice of these disciplines will be welcomed, especially those which bring new knowledge and observations from the application of techniques within the spheres of light and electron microscopy, tissue and organ culture, immunology, histochemistry and immunocytochemistry, microbiology, genetics and biochemistry. Review papers on topical and relevant subjects will receive a high priority. Original research material requiring rapid publication because of their significance and timeliness will be included as Brief Reports. They should not exceed three pages. All submitted manuscripts falling within the overall scope of the Journal will be assessed by at least two suitably qualified referees. Rapid publication.

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation aims to be the most prestigious journal of dental research within all aspects of oral rehabilitation and applied oral physiology. It covers all diagnostic and clinical management aspects necessary to re-establish a subjective and objective harmonious oral function. Oral rehabilitation may become necessary as a result of developmental or acquired disturbances in the orofacial region, orofacial traumas, or a variety of dental and oral diseases (primarily dental caries and periodontal diseases) and orofacial pain conditions. As such, oral rehabilitation in the twenty-first century is a matter of skilful diagnosis and minimal, appropriate intervention, the nature of which is intimately linked to a profound knowledge of oral physiology, oral biology, and dental and oral pathology. The scientific content of the journal therefore strives to reflect the best of evidence-based clinical dentistry. Modern clinical management should be based on solid scientific evidence gathered about diagnostic procedures and the properties and efficacy of the chosen intervention (e.g. material science, biological, toxicological, pharmacological or psychological aspects). The content of the journal also reflects documentation of the possible side-effects of rehabilitation, and includes prognostic perspectives of the treatment modalities chosen.Basic sciences are developing rapidly in contemporary society, but it may take some time before important new knowledge finds its way into daily clinical practice. Good clinical science deals with the diagnosis and appropriate treatment of individual patients. We need well-educated dentists to identify the numerous unsolved questions relevant to oral rehabilitation, in order to stimulate clinical and basic sciences to provide scientifically documented answers. It is the intention of the journal to stimulate contributions, which may help to bridge the gap between relevant basic sciences and clinical dentistry.The focus for the journal is to present original research findings; to generate critical reviews and relevant case stories, and to stimulate commentaries and professional debates in Letters to the Editor. We will invite relevant commercial interests to engage in the journal in order to make it the international forum for debate between dental clinical dental clinical sciences and industry, which share a common goal: to improve the quality of oral rehabilitation.
