Journal Guide

This journal provides a forum to promote knowledge of harmful microalgae and macroalgae, including cyanobacteria, as well as monitoring, management and control of these organisms. Both original research and review papers will be considered.Papers dealing with the following aspects of harmful microalgae and cyanobacteria in marine and fresh waters will be considered:• The distribution, life histories and taxonomy of harmful microalgae;• The physiology and toxicology of harmful microalgae;• Harmful microalgal bloom ecology;• Trophic, socio-economic, public health and aquacultural impacts of harmful microalgal bloom events;• Occurrence, methods of detection and chemical structure of toxins in harmful microalgae, cyanobacteria, foodwebs and seafood;• Factors controlling toxin production, biosynthesis and chemical ecology.Note: Papers dealing with pharmacology fall outside of the scope of the journal.All papers will be subject to peer review. Authors will receive proofs. The journal Helgoland Marine Research publishes original research papers, invited reviews, and commentary on all aspects and levels of the biology of marine and brackish water organisms. Helgoland Marine Research is sponsored by the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research. Among the topics of particular interest are explorations of ecological dynamics, life cycles, biological oceanography, environmental biology, physiology and behavior, morphology, evolution and taxonomy, cultivation and techniques and more. The Editor-in-Chief is Heinz-Dieter Franke, Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Helgoland, Germany.

Helminthologia publishes original peer-reviewed research, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of human and veterinary medicine as well as agronomy. It has been published by the Parasitological Institute of SAS since 1959; it is the only journal in Central Europe offering individual and collaborative research in veterinary medicine and natural science from international experts. The journal takes a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to current issues in helminthology, and is committed to rapid dissemination of the latest research to the academic community. Helminthologia presents original articles, review articles, and research notes on various aspects of pure and applied helminthology, particularly on helminth- and endo-parasites in human and animal hosts, and plant parasites of environmental, health and veterinary importance, along with taxonomic contributions. Coverage includes parasitology, immunology, taxonomy, morphology, phytonematology and ecology.

The Herpetologists' League, established in 1946, is an international organization of people devoted to studying herpetology -- the biology of amphibians and reptiles. HL publishes two scholarly journals -- the quarterly Herpetologica, which contains original research papers and essays, and the annual supplement Herpetological Monographs, which contains lengthy research articles, syntheses, and special symposia.
