Theoretical Issues in Ergonomics Science

ISSN: 1463-922XeISSN: 1464-536X

Theoretical Issues in Ergonomics Science aims to advance the science and philosophy of human-centered design. The journal focuses on a broad array of theoretical issues, methodology, and philosophical dialogues within the science of human factors and ergonomics, and is a highly respected forum for interdisciplinary discussion within this field, cutting across the design, engineering, technology, and management of human-compatible systems in the broadest sense. The Journal is proactive in its mission to develop a unique discipline, and seeks to define and promote theories of ergonomics as distinct and inherently valuable for the global knowledge community, including human factors scientists and engineers, ergonomists, industrial designers, industrial engineers, systems engineers, design engineers, cognitive and organizational psychologists, occupational health specialists and human-computer interaction specialists.Theoretical Issues in Ergonomics Science emphasizes new knowledge, publishing original, high-quality, peer-reviewed papers as well as commissioned reviews and peer-reviewed commentaries. Topics include both qualitative and quantitative methodological frameworks and theories of ergonomics. The Journal presents papers that discuss principles of the investigative process in ergonomics research, social and historical issues, and science of science perspectives on ergonomics. Papers that examine the discipline itself, including bibliographical analyses of classic papers, are also published.Unlike other ergonomics journals that deal primarily with applications, Theoretical Issues in Ergonomics Science focuses on theoretical aspects of the science, such as causality and the underlying aspects of behaviour in a complex human-technology-environment systems sense. Above all, the Journal provides a vehicle for the dissemination of research on the underpinning scientific foundation of the discipline of ergonomics that no other publication covers. It creates the opportunity to consider the newest approaches of associated domains and to implant them in work system design. Authors are encouraged to discuss extensive and coherent theories that stimulate future empirical and modelling research within the ergonomics discipline.

Third World Thematics: A TWQ Journal

ISSN: 2380-2014eISSN: 2379-9978

Third World Thematics ( TWT ) is a sister publication of the established title, Third World QuarterlyTWT is an online journal devoted to the publication of special issues.

TWT  focuses on the political economy, development and cultures of those parts of the world that have experienced the most political, social and economic upheaval, and which have faced the greatest challenges of the postcolonial world under globalisations: poverty, displacement and diaspora, environmental degradation, human and civil rights abuses, war, hunger and disease.

TWT  serves as a signifier of oppositional emerging economies and cultures, ranging from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Middle East, and even those ‘Souths’ within a larger perceived ‘North’, such as the US Deep South and Mediterranean Europe. The study of these otherwise disparate and discontinuous areas, known collectively as the ‘Global South’, demonstrates that as globalisation pervades the planet, the south, as a synonym for subalterity, also transcends geographical and ideological forms.

Tissue Barriers publishes several categories of articles including: Original Research Papers, Short Communications, Technical Papers, Reviews, Perspectives and Commentaries, Hypothesis and Meeting Reports. Reviews and Perspectives/Commentaries will typically be invited. We also anticipate to publish special issues that are devoted to rapidly developing or controversial areas of research. Suggestions for topics are welcome.

Tissue Barriers has several goals:

  • To promote cross-disciplinary awareness and collaborations between researchers working with different types of epithelial and endothelial barriers and build a broad and cohesive worldwide community of scientists interesting in this exciting field.
  • To comprehend the enormous complexity of tissue barriers and map cross-talks and interactions between their different cellular and non-cellular components.
  • To highlight the roles of tissue barrier dysfunctions in human diseases and accelerate a search for pharmacological enhancers of tissue barriers as potential therapeutic agents.
  • To understand and optimize drug delivery across epithelial and endothelial barriers.

Translation

ISSN: 2169-074XeISSN: 2169-0731

Aims & Scope: Translation of mRNA into protein is a central step in the gene expression pathway. It is tightly controlled to provide cells with a rapid, robust and highly specific means to respond to changes in its microenvironment. Pathological regulation of translation occurs in many diseases including diabetes, heart failure and cancer. Agents to correct aberrant translation are being actively developed.

Translation is planned as a unique peer-reviewed, high-profile journal with a broad international audience. The launch of this journal reflects the tremendous progress in the field of translation over the past decade.

Translation will cover two major areas:

  • Biochemistry and basic cell biology - structure, function and regulation of the translational apparatus in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells;
  • Translational control in biology and medicine - molecular and systems-level studies of translation across the entire spectrum of development and function of multicellular organisms and human health and disease.
We encourage reports of advances in cell free systems, in vitro, in vivo and in silico.

Translation welcomes submission of initial reports of novel agents that modulate translation, significant methodological advances and high quality descriptions of novel phenomena.

The journal will publish original research articles, brief reports, reviews, commentaries and meeting reports. All submissions will be rapidly screened for suitability by a member of the editorial board prior to peer-review, and only those meeting the highest standards of scientific merit will be accepted for publication.
